Being part of creating a 'great' lyric that remains relevant and feels fresh over time, is an incredibly joyful and fulfilling experience! It's not without its challenges, but the feeling of knowing you found the best possible words, rhymes, and phrasing, that work perfectly overtop of a cool groove and memorable melody, that express the intended emotion for any given moment, is simply put - AWESOME!!
Thirty years into my songwriting career, I am fortunate to be able to say that I have written and have been part of co-writing hundreds and hundreds of songs - 64 which have been released to radio as singles!

I have learned over the years to enter into every writing circumstance knowing full-well that each song will take on a life of its own. The blending together of the wisdom I've received from other writers and the countless pieces of songwriting information I have taken in along the way, has allowed me to create a process that I have come to rely upon and consistently apply to each and every song.
Throughout every stage of the lyric writing process I ask myself 2 questions;
1) Does this storyline make sense?
2) Is there enough compelling content for the listener to truly care about this idea?
If the answer to one or both of those questions is ‘no’, there is more work to do!
